The first problem that I encountered was a pesky little animal that seemed to evade all of my attempts to capture and eliminate. I live in a duplex, attached to another property. Unfortunately we share a partial roof that attaches together. Apparently, a large raccoon had decided to make his home in my neighbors’ side of the roof. The little bugger was able to break the siding of the roof and sneak in, making his home. This is my neighbor’s side of the roof and is her responsibility to fix. But as fate would have it she is gone for the month. So now I have to take care of it or this little fury beast will ruin my roof as well. So I try all the usual tricks to capture him and of course they don’t work. I end up having to call a trapper that costs me a couple hundred bucks. All this to relocate a stupid animal.
So I finally get rid of this guy and think my problems are over. Not so fast. The next day my wife calls me and tells me that all of the toilets are backed up and the plunger doesn’t seem to be working. When I get home from work, I plunge all of the toilets again, just in case my wife didn’t do it right! Well she did, and I looked like an idiot. I went to the hardware store, got a drain cleaner and a snake and went to work. Three hours later, still to flush. At this point I give up and call the plumber. Of course it takes him forever to get there, and my house is starting to smell of sewage. Four hours later, with the addition of a huge hole in my front yard, the plumber shoes me what the problem was. A large amount of roots had made its way into my main water line, clogging up the pipe. So, that cost another $300.00. All in all, I spent around $500 bucks in two days. It would be so much easier if I had a landlord!
